I made this based of plans from Ana-White.com called floating shelves. After seeing the project on her website a few days ago I had one thought…Do they have to be straight? I needed something like floating shelves for my bathroom but I only had one corner to work with and I wanted the shelf to go there. Well, turns out its just as easy as making a straight floating shelf. The painted shelf sleeve still fits over the frame just fine and with it being nailed into studs on both ends and in the corner of the room, It should be sturdy enough. Take my advice though, It turns out that my studs were exactly 2 ft from the corner on both sides. I made both sides of the shelves 2 ft long. In order to reach the studs on the sides I ended up having to take 3 inch long screws and screw into the very end corner of the shelf at an angle so it went into the studs that way. Better just to know where your studs are from the get go and make your shelves accordingly so you know you will have proper space to screw them into the studs properly because even doing what I did…I probably wouldn’t want to put anything too heavy on them. If you want to see the project that I got my idea from you can go to this link. http://ana-white.com/2010/04/plans-youngsters-floating-shelves-have.html
